Board Members
Calen Smith
Calen was hired as a firefighter with the City of Avondale in 2013 and has proudly served the community and his fellow firefighters for more than a decade. Before being elected President of Local 3924, Calen dedicated his time to the union as a Trustee and as the Political Action Officer, where he worked to strengthen relationships and ensure the voices of firefighters were heard. As President, Calen remains deeply committed to advocating for the best interests of the membership and the community. He is here for his brothers and sisters in Local 3924 and will always fight to protect and advance their safety, rights, and well-being.
Eric Folger
Eric has served as a firefighter with the City of Avondale since 2007. Over the years, he has taken on multiple leadership roles within Local 3924, including Member Services and Disciplinary Trustee, before being elected Vice President. Eric is dedicated to advocating for his fellow firefighters, strengthening the union, and ensuring the safety and well-being of both members and the community they serve.
Brenden Weise
Brendan was hired in 2019 and quickly became an active and engaged member of our union. In 2022, he was elected Treasurer, where he has since been responsible for ensuring transparency, accountability, and accuracy in managing our financial resources. With a strong focus on protecting members’ dues and maintaining clear records, Brendan has helped strengthen the union’s financial stability and supported long-term planning.
Brant Arnold
Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona Brant Arnold is a graduate of the University of Arizona and a registered architect in the State of Arizona. He joined the City of Avondale and the Avondale Fire & Medical Department in 2021 as a firefighter. Brant has been an active servant in the fire service community since 2022 when he began his role as a trustee for Local 3924 and now contributes as secretary on the executive board. He is dedicated to strengthening the voice of labor, and improving the wages, benefits and working conditions of Local 3924 members. Brant is proud to represent and advocate for his fellow firefighters, which he considers a second family - he also holds the position of co-chair of the Health & Safety Committee. Brant is committed to volunteering with Avondale Firefighter Charities to serve the greater Avondale community, which he considers a second home. Beyond his professional and community commitments, he is most importantly, and proudly, the husband to his high school sweetheart and the father of four young daughters.
Randall Micula
Randall has proudly served the community of Avondale since 2016. A dedicated member of IAFF Local 3924, he previously held the position of Trustee and now serves as the PAC Fund Officer. In this role, Randall is committed to continuing the Local’s tradition of political involvement and advocacy on behalf of its members. He looks forward to the opportunity to serve both his fellow firefighters and the public with integrity, transparency, and dedication.
Bryan Depauw
Bryan has been with Avondale Fire for 15 years, 7 of which as a Captain. He is a previous Local 3924 President and is the current Disciplinary Trustee and is the EMS committee member co-chair.
Keenan Murray
Local 3924 Trustee since 2022, current Workers Comp Trustee, Peer Support Team Coordinator, and Health and Safety Committee member. Focused on supporting members’ safety, wellness, and fair representation.
Jose Guzman
Jose has proudly served as a firefighter for the City of Avondale since 2019. In addition to his role in the fire service, he represents his fellow firefighters as the Benefits Trustee for IAFF Local 3924, advocating for the well-being and support of his brothers and sisters in the profession. Outside of work, Jose values quality time with his family and enjoys his passion for cars.
Westley Tank
Wes joined Avondale Fire & Medical in 2021 and has been an active member in the fire service since 2008. He was elected as Local 3924's Working Conditions Trustee and then transitioned into our newly established Media and Communications Trustee. Wes advocates for all of our members' voices and is the administrator for the Local's website and social media pages. Wes also holds an elected position on the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) local board.
Ana Cano
Ana has been a dedicated member of Avondale Fire & Medical since 2021. For the past two years, she has worked in Membership Services, where she has thrived as part of a close-knit team that she considers family. Ana has a caring nature and strong sense of community within the department. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time outdoors with her beloved dogs. She is a family-oriented individual and values connection, support, and making a positive impact both on and off the job.
